Will your car pass its next MOT?
Enter a registration to see how likely the car is to fail its next MOT & a risk rating compared to other cars of the same age. The estimate comes from a model trained on the MOT history of over 90,000 cars and vans.
What this can and can't tell you
- The result compares this car with others of the same age. Even a higher-risk car usually passes: across the test data, about 43% of higher-risk cars failed, against about 20% of lower-risk cars.
- It's based on the car's MOT history: past fails, advisories, mileage, age and make. Faults that appear suddenly, like a blown bulb or a damaged tyre, can't be predicted from history.
- For a car's first MOT there's no history, so the estimate rests on its age and make alone.
- Differences between makes partly reflect how cars are looked after, not just how they're built.
- Cars and light vans only. Motorcycles aren't covered.
This is an estimate for interest, not advice. It doesn't replace a check by a mechanic. How the model was built and tested is on the failure model page.
